Exposed aggregate, Perth

Decorative stone, revealed. We pour concrete seeded with natural aggregate, then wash the surface back so the stone does the talking. It's WA's most popular driveway upgrade for a reason: tough, slip-resistant and easy to live with.

$115-155 per m2 installed, incl. GST

Where it suits

Where exposed aggregate earns its keep

Driveways

The classic. Handles cars, weather and Perth sand without showing wear. Most double driveways land between 60 and 80 m2.

Pool surrounds

The stone texture gives real grip underfoot, and the sealer stands up to chlorine and salt splash.

Paths and entries

Ties the front of a house together. Pairs well with plain concrete borders or feature bands.

What it really costs

Most exposed aggregate jobs land between $115 and $155 per m2 installed, incl. GST. Under about 20 m2 a $2,500 minimum job charge applies, and larger pours earn a better rate as fixed costs spread. Get your exact range in the estimator below.

Living with it

Care and resealing

Resealing

Reseal every 2 to 4 years depending on traffic and sun. We quote resealing as a standalone job.

Day to day

Hose it off and go over it with a stiff broom and mild detergent. No acid washing, it eats the sealer.

What moves the number

The range assumes a typical Perth sand pad with straight access. These are what push a job to the top of it, or past it.

  • What is under the surface. Rock or deep fill turns half a day of digging into two, and never shows from the street.
  • Levels and drainage. A fall to build, or water that needs somewhere to go, is prep before any concrete turns up.
  • Engineering and soil reports. Some builds need an engineered slab, specified by others and priced by others.
  • Council crossover permits. The verge belongs to the council, and their paperwork sets that price, not us.

Which is why the site visit is free, and why the written quote is the number that counts.

Fair questions

Exposed aggregate, asked and answered

Will exposed aggregate crack?

Concrete shrinks as it cures, so we control where it moves rather than pretend it won't. SL72 mesh through the slab and control joints cut within a day or two keep movement in the joints, not across your driveway.

Is it slippery around pools?

No, the exposed stone texture is one of the grippiest finishes going. For pool surrounds we can add a grit additive to the sealer for extra bite.

How long before we can drive on it?

Keep vehicles off for 7 days. Foot traffic is fine after 24 to 48 hours, and full strength arrives at 28 days.

Can you match our existing exposed aggregate?

We can usually get close with stone selection and mix, but an exact match to weathered concrete is rare. Bring it up at the site visit and we'll show you the nearest blends.

Tell us about your slab. We'll give you a straight answer.
